Health Care

Primary health care is easily found within Muncie-Delaware County. The area prides itself on the establishment of a number of top notch specialized clinics, private practices, pharmacies and an enhanced 911 emergency service. Muncie-Delaware County also has skilled assisted living centers and home health care options for the area’s mature adults and an acclaimed medical center.

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital

 A leader of Indiana University Health, Ball Memorial Hospital (BMH) serves as a regional referral center and teaching facility. The medical facility offers a comprehensive list of services and programs and employs 2,500 on its staff and 260 on its medical team, making it the largest non-government employer in this section of Indiana. Representing over 45 medical specialties, Ball Memorial’s on-staff physicians are some of the most qualified in the region. Approximately 85 percent earn board certification – an admirable statistic that reaches far above the average in the medical field.

In 2008, Ball Memorial Hospital became the first hospital in Indiana to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 certification, a distinction held by only 12 other hospitals in the United States.

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital’s mission is to “promote wellness and improve the health status of the people of East Central Indiana and surrounding areas through patient care, health education and medical research.”

Open Door Health Services

Need to go to the doctor, but do not have health insurance? Open Door Health Services is a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center that meets the needs of all patients. People or families who are without health insurance, are under-insured, or for some reason do not have appropriate health services receive a discount based on their income and household size. Another great thing about Open Door Health Services is that it meets many of your health needs at one location. Several of the services offered include Adult Health, Pediatrics, Dental, Behavioral Health, Prenatal, Family Planning, Urgent Care, and much more.

Meridian Health Services

Meridian Health Services is a progressive healthcare organization that believes in treating the “whole person” integrating physical, mental and social well-being to help people achieve their optimum health.
