Muncie in a Nutshell
Muncie-Delaware County has a city population of approximately 70,000 and a county population of approximately 115,200. We have been recognized by Money Magazine as one of the top five “Up and Coming Cites” under 250,000 people. And Muncie is the only city in Indiana to be recognized as the Indiana “Community of the Year” two times by the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce.
Muncie is the regional hub for East Central Indiana. We have a state-of-the-art and top rated hospital along with a cancer center, great shopping and great places to eat. Our educational systems are outstanding and include: Ball State University, Ivy Tech Community College and Harrison College. Muncie/Delaware County also has five museums and a host of art galleries.
Recreation
When you move to Muncie-Delaware County, you’ll find a variety of recreational activities at your fingertips. Prairie Creek Reservoir and campground is a beautiful attraction that is located approximately five miles southeast of Muncie, south of the White River. The reservoir and park area is made up of approximately 1275 acres of water and 750 land acres. 40 acres of this land has been dedicated as a wetland preserve. 
Water-related activities include, boating, fishing and swimming. Amenities include Seasonal Campground, Docks & Piers, Boat Launches, Boating/Fishing, Beach/Bath House, Concessions, Swimming, Playground, Picnic Shelters, Restrooms, Basketball, Volleyball, Horseshoes and Rental Facilities.
Enjoy the fresh air! The American Lung Association calls Muncie one of the nation's cleanest cities when it comes to smog, earning a ranking as one of the 50 cleanest cities in the country for ozone pollution. The Lung Association gave Delaware County a grade of “A” because it had no days of unhealthy levels of smog in 2012.
Other attractions, sports and recreation
Muncie-Delaware County is also home to many unique attractions. Minnetrista is a wonderful museum with ongoing exhibits along with 40 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The National Model Aviation Museum contains the largest collection of model aircraft in the nation. The Muncie Symphony offers first-class programs and features nationally known artists. The Muncie Civic Theatre features live stage performances to suit all tastes. Cardinal Greenway offers twenty seven miles of scenic trails. Each year, approximately 250,000 people use the Greenways to walk, run, ride, rollerblade, horseback ride, explore their environment, bond with nature, search for animals and their habitats, take photos, or identify trees and birds.
